Ruffpaw shook out his pelt as sun high had suddenly snuck up on him. The apprentice had been out with Fox for a climbing lesson on the cliffs and it had ended to early for the rambunctious tom. The problem apprentice now was padding across the cliff clan territory unhindered by any other cat. Just want the young tom needed and yearned for, freedom. His paws had led him to dewing falls and he slipped his muzzle into the water and then lapped up a few cool sips from the shallows. As he followed the moving water a little farther down he flicked his ears the sound of the rushing water getting stronger as the rapids made a whooshing sound as it traveled through the rocks and over the falls. It was on the bank here that the daring tom settled himself down sitting on his haunches his amberish gaze studying the water as it seemed to fall off the Earth. He was mesmerized by the sun as it danced off the water turning it sapphire. Soon he was mewing to himself and talking about crossing the rapids to the opposite bank. He was more than ready to prove his strength and power and as he itched closer to the water the sun seemed to highlight the pale tabby markings in his whitish coat. The sun seemed to want him to look at the more powerful.
Ruffpaw had thoughts streaming through his mind now. He was searching for rocks to leap to and softer spots where he might be able to churn his paws fast enough to beat the current. There was a fine line between stupidity and bravery and this tom was balancing right on it. A wry smile crossed his muzzle as he began to formulate a bit of a plan. He was ready to prove his mentor wrong and make it to the other side. By now he was right on the bank and could feel the cool spray of the water. It felt colder then the mountains in leaf bare, but right now it was refreshing and it awoke every bad bone in his body. Ruffpaw loved being up here and had been planning the chance to get across it since he started is apprenticeship 4 moons ago. He had never followed through with the thought, but he loved this spot as he felt like he was on top of the world and that he could see every part of the territory from the top of the falls.

It was rare to find this little black and white molly anywhere near the water. To be honest she hated it with a passion and wasn't to fond of even the idea. Of course she had to prove to her clan she was willing to look her best sometimes though. The pretty girl always had a rugged look about herself, white fur dusted with mud. Black fur caked with dust. Of course this all went with her solid brown eyes which resembled the slowly drying mud.
While she usually looked dirty and gross, something about this made Jasminepaw attractive to all the toms in her clan. To be honest she got a little too much attention sometimes and was well known as the clan flirt. Any tom would chase her and she soon learned she could actually have friends, having met Pawpawpaw. It was something the little cat didn't expect, always thinking she'd be the slut forever and always. Yet, that little white tom made her want to change, and change she was slowly doing. Of course you can't just change your sexy nature over night.
It was on her little journey to clean up that she saw him gazing at the water, right on the edge as if he were about to jump in. Jaz simply rolled her eyes, knowing exactly who the tom was. She wasn't going to play easy to get anymore so the little molly simply padded over to the water and leaned down, her tongue skimming it to lap at the water. Ruffpaw was... Well he was much of the clan jock. He was stubborn and got what he wanted when he wanted. Not exactly Jasminepaw's favorite kind of company.

Ruffpaw didn't tear his gaze from the water as the molly came into his view by the water. The little black and white molly was cute, but not really what Ruffpaw was after. He had an eye for she cats, sure, but at first glance the mud all over her was a turn off. He didn't want to seem to rude, though, and after a moments hesitation he padded over to Jasminepaw and started a slight conversation. " 'ello Jasminepaw. I'm not used to seeing you in these parts. Isn't this water just thrilling. I've loved it up here since I was kit!" He thought back to the death of his littermate as she tried to follow him up here and shook. That was moons ago, but he still blamed himself for the lose of the she kit.
His eyes caught her muddy eyes and he kind of swallowed in surprise. Good god they were amazing and they seemed to reflect the color of the sturdy cliffs that the clan called home. Perhaps, just perhaps mud was the new soft coat and this backwoods princess could settle for a rough edged tom like himself.

It almost pained her when she noticed Ruddpaw padding over. The annoying little part of her wanting to shove him down the cliff. Damn she was mean sometimes but everyone knew the kind of tom he was and all he would want from her. Either way the gorgeous girl turned her eyes to him, ignoring what she believed was a disgusted look as he went over her muddy pelt. Finally Jaz let out a deep sigh.
"Yea, I suppose it is gorgeous. Of course its a bit too bright for my taste, I've always enjoyed the darker side of the cliffs. You likely know that thought Ruffpaw, I saw you staring at my pelt." She said, not caring to be kind hearted or sweet. If he was going to stare at her like that then why did she need to be. And in truth, the little molly was falling in love with Pawpawpaw, she didn't want another follower. Yet it was when he looked straight into her muddy brown eyes that her breath caught. He didn't seem to judge her anymore which was truly a shock. He actually seemed friendly.
"I needed some time away from camp, thats why I'm here. My mentor isn't exactly the best cat to be around." She muttered softly, turning away from the apprentice and back to the water.

Ruffpaw seemed to disregard her calling him out at him looking at her pelt and kind of snorted in amusement. "A little molly like you. You have probably never even seen the real darkness of cliff clan territory." He had always been the ruffian of the kits and the apprentices and the little gruff tom had seen more and knew more of this territory then a majority of his even senior clan mates. He thrived alone where his reputation didn't follow him. He was becoming that rough, bad cat that everyone wanted him to become. Ruffpaw was excited to see the fellow apprentice covered in mud and thought that just maybe they could play. His eyes hide a little bit of bitter disappointment with her distasteful answer. He slid past her his eyes again tracing the streaks of mud on her coat. He could hide his whiteish coat with that and his pale brown markings. He wouldn't be different that way. He'd be solid, whole a different cat with something like this to hide him.
Ruffpaw wasn't far ahead when when Jasmine paw said she wanted some time away from camp when he looked back at her his eyes fill to the brim that look of disconnection suddenly giving way to the gaze of any normal apprentice. Excitement and adventure present in every move. every breath. "I like to be away from camp and Foxface. They don't lik..." He stopped and shook out his coat to fix his phrasing. "Don't understand me. I'm different. Your pelt, just now gave me an idea. I can show you places on this territory you never even dreamed of. You want an escape and I need a salvation. Together I think we can achieve just that." Not many cats knew how really clever this little apprentice was and they never talked to him past his pranks or adventures and no one understand the under laying sadness that was present in this young cat.

Jasminepaw glared at the tom, obviously taken aback by his comment. "A little molly like me not seeing and real darkness. Are you trying to say that because I'm a she I'm not good enough?" Her tone was sharp and obviously pointed at the fact she knew she could do better than him. "Clearly someone mother never taught him any respect." Sure Jasminepaw was the clan flirt, toms were always all over her, but at least she had respect for herself. No matter how little it was still there, bright and clear.
"How exactly did my pelt give you an idea Ruffpaw? Because I don't wash it? Because I'm different and not something a little tom like you could handle?" It was clear at this point she was just being a pure bitch to him. Why? Because it was easy for her to do and she just loved it. She didn't need toms following her like lost puppies anymore, she had Pawpawpaw. This little black and white molly had everything she needed for her future and now she didn't really care what any other tom thought of her, Feel free to spread the rumors or ever just talk behind her back. She was happy now.

Ruff pelt frankly did not give a damn how the molly responded to him. He was comfortable in his skin for the most part and didn't need a she to tell him what to do. "Way to put words in my mouth. How can I respect you if you don't even respect yourself. I said nothing about washing, your fine. As far as darkness either you are being a goody good or you follow me. I'm having fun regardless." The young tom turned and started to walk again across the stone face. He wanted to play and wasn't really taken back, but Jasminepaw surprisingly. He was used to be treated like a bad boy, because he kind of really was on the surface. He was what the clan had made him, how they shaped him. He was always finding something to get his paws into. Right now he had a great idea for fun. He could have it with or without Jasminepaw. However, although he would never admit it he really hoped that she would follow him. Even the clan ruffian needed a friend once in a while.
His mind raced with thoughts of playing with the black and white she. He could see that she didn't mind getting her pelt dirty, which was a big plus. He had a nice time planned of playing in the mud and some how he thought that having someone to romp around and play with would be a great way. Maybe he could even mud slide! This was going to hopefully turn into the time away from camp he really needed. His eyes glimmered and he only glanced back at Jasmine for a brief second not wanted to be to hurt if she didn't follow him. "I just want to play." He mumbled to his self in a low pitiful whisper that just in cased his sadness of losing his littermate and being less wanted in the clan than his other two.
