*kit. Mousekit and Shrewkit were Beaverpelt's first litter. A young warrior, Beaverpelt has barely made it out of the apprentice's den when she wound up, belly swollen, in the nursery. Like many a she-cat before her, she chose not to disclose the name of the tom who'd gotten her that way and for a brief spell, there was talk that perhaps the tom was a rogue or belonged to another clan. Brisk and businesslike, Beaverpelt herself put the rumors to rest: she and her unborn kit's father simply had no interest in being mates. But Beaverpelt wanted kits and the tom was well aware that Swampclan needed warriors. And so, one fine, sunny morning, Beaverpelt gave birth to two pretty she-kits: Shrewkit and Mousekit. They were a fine pair in the nursery: flirty, laughing Shrewkit and sweet, clever Mousekit. Any other littermates would have found themselves in a mountain of trouble if they did what these two did--sneaking out, visiting the elders, watching the stars at night from camp--but there wasn't a cat that couldn't be charmed by the smiling sisters. The first moons of their kithood passed by in a blur, the two sisters wrapped up in their own little world of adventure and games. As they aged, they became more adventurous and eventually, they began to play with the other young cats in the nursery. That was when Mousepaw met Minkpaw, her first friend that was not likewise family. Born just a few days apart, the two became friends almost instantly and the reserve that Mousepaw had once had (a side effect of being the sister of such a bold, extroverted cat as Shrewpaw) began to melt away, giving her an independence she hadn't known in her first few moons. Though the sisters remained close, there were a few new set of paws for their kithood games and adventures and, true to her nature, Shrewpaw took it well in stride, not the least minding when Minkpaw and his brother joined in their mischief. Since the four kits were so close in age, Blankstar decided to have their apprentice ceremony together when the reached six moons. *paw. Mousepaw took to apprenticeship like a fish to water, the opportunity allowing her to further develop her blossoming independence. A quick study, she has learned each task with an ease that has impressed her mentor. Uncomplaining, she had balanced between time with her friends, her chores and her lessons. The only hiccup thus far in that training came at the age of eight moons when, on a border patrol with her mentor and a few other cats, they got into a scuffle with another clan, who'd accused them of crossing borders. Outraged, the patrol attacked and while they walked away victorious, they were not without injuries. An older apprentice from the other clan managed to knick and tear off the tip of Mousepaw's left ear. What was left healed nicely but it is certainly noticeable.
