.BEARPAW. Hey Miss Murder can I? Make beauty stay if I... Take my life. Bearpaw was tired of being in camp. Being around all those cats who thought they could really accomplish something when really they were good for nothing. It was something that she honestly couldn't stand. It was something that had always been instilled in her since she was a kit. She just couldn't help but feel others were weak when they thought they could do something but never really set out to do it. Or never accomplished it. Goals were placed to be accomplished, not stared at. Not hung up on a wall for others to tell you that you had quite a bit of adventure and determination for trying to reach it. Let them tell you that after you met it. For until you met a goal, why even consider it something important. The black she-cat smirked softly, the expression tugging her maw into a taut line of flesh and fur. No longer was it just drooping and hanging waiting for her to direct it into whatever shape she wished to display.
Sighing the she-cat watched the ground before her as her paws hauled her away from the mundane obstacles and useless bits of information back at camp. Not many intrigued her anymore. While PIneclan cats were supposed to be strong and devoted to themselves, many of them couldn't hunt or fight to save their own lives. Just like her sister Goosepaw. The she-cat was almost useless. She would barely pass as a warrior, and should they ever be shoved into a battle...well Bearpaw definitely didn't want her sister protecting her back. Feeling a sharp prick in her paw, the apprentice picked it up to reveal a thorn. Narrowing her eyes she pulled it out carefully with her teeth and made a mental note to perhaps find some cobwebs if need be. The she-cats yellow eyes focused once more on the landscape in front of her. So much for a relaxing day.
Cranking her neck to the left, she felt her vertebrae crack and pop lightly. It was relieving and seemed to be just the trick to what she needed as the sun began to filter through the trees. While most of the leaves were falling to the ground, a few still clung desperately to their tall strong structures. Though they would be separated...and just like life, the weak leaves would crumble and be nothing more than particles in the end of their short life. As she reached the pond, she could smell the faint stench of stale water. But as the temperature fell, the smell was dissipating. Settling with her front paws in the damp ground around the perimeter she closed her eyes, focusing on nothing in particular, just the sounds and her breathing.

He didn't plan on leaving the camp today, but when he saw Bearpaw slip away unnoticed save everyone but himself through the tunnel, curiosity got the better of him. He waited a few heartbeats before silent paws carried him after her. He saw her black pelt flicker in the distance and he waited until her form disappeared completely before he parted his jaws to pick up her scent. Ducking his head, Lightningpaw followed her haltingly, his path traveling through the forest all the way to the Tree Bridge. They crossed over rotting logs, Bearpaw barely seeming to miss a step. Lightningpaw felt his footing give way once or twice over the few slick pieces of wood, but thankfully he was able to catch himself both times. His presence was still unknown.
After a time, they approached the Ellipse Pond, and Lightningpaw finally had Bearpaw in his sights again. He allowed her to make her way to the edge of the water where she stood for a period, making it easy for Lightningpaw to wedge himself in the welcoming camouflage a patch of underbrush offered him. Green eyes brushed over the back of her figure, waiting to see if she would continue her trek. Was she meeting someone or. . . did she just want to be alone? Lightningpaw could understand wanting to be alone sometimes. Sometimes, the closeness of the bodies in camp got to be too much.
When Bearclaw sat at the edge of the pond, he knew this was her destination. He padded silently from the dilute shadows, making his way quietly to stand behind her back. Halfway there, he paused, tilting his head to one side. Bearpaw was so close to the water. . . too close. . . It was too great of an opportunity to pass up. Lightningpaw felt the corner of his lip twitch into a smile as he padded a few more steps and then lunged, forepaws out stretched, aiming to land squarely between Bearpaw's shoulder blades. He was hoping to knock her off balance so that some part (mostly her face) would make a pleasant splashing sound in the chilled water. He connected and he dove away expertly, landing two fox lengths away from her with a wide grin splayed upon his face. "What's up, fish breath." Lightningpaw made a face and stuck out his tongue, his green eyes sparkling playfully.

.BEARPAW.
Every now and then she could have sworn that somebody was following her. It was easy to pick up on these things for her. Easy for her to understand everything that was going on around her. It was surprising that she wasn't out of her apprenticeship early. If she had a choice she would be. If she could take a step further and more quickly than she already was...well by all means she would. She felt that the clan needed her more than she needed to finish her apprenticeship. Though with only a few moons left, she would be receiving her warrior name anytime now...and she honestly couldn't wait.
Though back to the fact that she could of sworn there was somebody behind her, it didn't surprise her when pawsteps were heard thundering towards her. As her mentor had always said, be prepared for anything. So naturally when she was expecting anything she let her body stay loose. Her muscles only needed to be contracted where necessary and at the moment she wasn't sure where the impact would be. However, most of the time it was the shoulders. Square in the back. It was a guess, but it was as good as she was going to be able to do. Letting herself stiffen and brace for the impact she felt the paws hit her.
Head moved down and was hugged to her chest as her front paws were pushed into the bank when her broad shoulders soaked up the impact from the tom's advances. Yellow eyes tore from the ground as she looked to the other apprentice. "Lightningpaw. Always a joy. Maybe you should be training so that maybe next time that maneuver will work for ya?" Her voice was somewhat snobby. Her nose wrinkled up as her eyes twinkled with playfulness. While she wasn't entirely sure who or how this apprentice was she wasn't entirely sure...they had only been around each other a handful of times and yet here they were. They were now sitting around the pond, together, with nothing between them but the awkwardness Lightningpaw had caused trying to catch the ever guarded Bearpaw.
"So, anything else we'd like to try?"

Lightningpaw's grin fell from his face when he realized Bearpaw wasn't going to be fully immersed in chilly leaf-fall water. Actually, it was almost like she had heard him coming and had prepared for his attacked. He frowned, an eyebrow quirking in her direction. "It should have worked. You cheated," the black and white tom meowed rather petulantly. He stared at her through narrowed green eyes as a forepaw scuffed the ground aimlessly. Sure, she was a moon older than he was, but there was no way she could have detected his presence from the start - unless he was being loud and careless like usual. His frown deepened. Lightningpaw was a skilled fighter, true, but as he thought on it his hunting skills could use some improvement. He was never the best hunter, and probably never would be. Inwardly he shrugged his shoulders. Bearpaw was larger than he was, anyway, which was strange, because he was a male and she was a female. But, well, sometimes that's how the cards were dealt.
He ignored her last comment as he wandered closer to the lip of the pond, his paw darting out to pat at the water. He glanced a couple of fox lengths away, where haphazardly shaped rocks they called 'stepping stones' peaked out from the blue waters. He looked back over his shoulder at Bearpaw, eyebrows raised in a challenge. "Bet you can't cross the stones and make it to the island without falling in," he chimed, not waiting for her to follow as he padded closer to the starting point. He had followed Bearpaw out here in the first place because he was curious about where she was going. . . but now that they were here, and he had been found out, he didn't want to go back to camp. He'd rather make this trip into a sporting event. Lightningpaw didn't know whether or not Bearpaw's mentor had taken her across the stones before, but Jacknose had taken him. Since she was larger than he was, he wondered briefly if she would be able to keep her footing.
Pausing at the edge of the pond, Lightningpaw lifted his head to find Bearpaw once more. "Why are you out here, anyway? You know if anyone caught us, we'd probably get into trouble." He wasn't really voicing a concern, but rather a statement. He had ventured out of camp without an escort plenty of times, but he had also been caught a handful of them. His punishment had been nothing worse than cleaning the bedding out of the elders den for a moon; he could handle that. Thankfully Jacknose never caught him, because he decided his punishment would have probably been much, much worse. His mentor didn't have the tolerance for Lightningpaw's foolish antics, and so whenever he was around he would try to remain on his best behavior, but sometimes that didn't always work out.
