Something had been bugging Bearheart for a while now; more than a something, actually, a few somethings. Every since his brother had died four moons ago, the massive tom had kicked his own butt into high gear, and started working harder than ever. Though he could not tell if Cunnerstar was pleased with his work, Bearheart tried to do only what he thought his leader would appreciate. This included organizing more patrols than necessary to protect the border and secure a well stocked prey pile, making sure nests were kept dry and clean in case of infection, and even reinforcing training between mentors and apprentices, spending time out of his own day to observe the eleven moon olds as a sort of pre-inspection. Bearheart worked hard to throw himself into the middle of social events; he never missed a naming ceremony, and he had attended every gathering since becoming deputy. Though the massive tom was quite sure Cunnerstar had made the right decision in choosing himself ten moons ago, when Aristar died, Bear had begun to feel like some of the other warriors disagreed with his overly productive schedule. This was the least of his worries.
As the noon time sun shone haphazardly onto the dried dirt ground of the SwampClan camp, Bearheart made his way the the leader's make-shift bramble and briar den. Camp itself was nearly empty, as the deputy had planned it this way; he wanted to talk to Cunnerstar, and Cunnerstar alone. While he usually loved a good spotlight, the matters the tom had to discuss were pivotal to improve clan life here in the swamp, and he did not need a bratty apprentice (like his own) eavesdropping and spreading rumors. Pausing outside of Cunnerstar's den, Bearheart felt his muscles tense. There was no one he wanted to please more than his leader. The white and brown warrior cleared his throat, then gave a hearty call. "Cunnerstar? We need to talk." He made sure his voice was loud and crystalline clear- though Cunnerstar had not complained, Bearheart had started to believe that the older tom's hearing was beginning to fail just ever so slightly.
