Satyrnose was always one to simply wander around camp in her spare time. She didn't have much to do as it was, the clans had been peaceful and really not many cats were dumb enough to get hurt right now. The gorgeous tabby with the curled ears was always the one to turn heads, sadly for those who really wanted a piece of that... She was a medicine cat. There wasn't a cat in the clan that could get through to her that being in love is worth it, or at least that's what she thought.
Finally the silver tabby settled herself outside her den, grooming through the long fur on her side. Her passion was just for her work and looking around she already had her eyes on an apprentice. This was something she just started considering recently and truly it seemed right, the older she got it seemed a better choice. Sure its true she was young, thirty-nine moons young. So why was she considering this so seriously? Because her eyes have been looking for love more often these days. She ran out of being a warrior and ended up a medicine cat without realizing what she was giving up.
For now though, everything seemed okay. Or at least in Satyrnose's mind at the moment it was.

Lately Bearheart had been a little stressed. Ever since his younger brother, Pebblepaw, had died trying to take on the Quick Sands, things hadn't really been the same. Duskflower was depressed and dull, Blackpaw was morbid and silent, and even Bearheart himself had thrown himself head first into his deputy duties. His mind was a constant race of patrols, apprenticeships, training, and a number of serious reforms he was continually trying to get Cunnerstar to consider. Granted, the massive tom's performance was better now than it had ever been previously, and he was doing a rather fine job keeping everyone in check. It felt wrong to complain when things were so great, but even the high and mighty needed a little bit of a rest now and then.
Bearheart had reluctantly took the day off, doctor's orders from himself. He knew when his Clanmates needed a break, and he would push them until they reached a bit beyond their breaking point; he had done far worse to himself, because he strove for greatness, and he wanted desperately to impress. The fluffy brown and white warrior found himself pacing camp at this point in time, his mind reeling as he tried to relax. Perhaps he would go see one of his friends: hang out with Morningpaw and Tawnystream, or try to cheer up Duskflower. It was when his relentless churning paws began to wear a path in the ground that Bearheart caught a glimpse of a pretty molly, and one with curled ears. He knew that femme any day. "Satyrnose!" As the medicine cat settled just outside her den, Bear bounded heavily in her direction, the tension in shoulders and muscles all but forgotten.

Satyrnose had her paw just over her ear, washing the soft fur just behind the odd curl of it all when she heard her name. Often times that's when the little cat started to panic. Her head shot up, yellow-green eyes looking in pure fear for the cat who spoke. When she saw Bearheart it was simply a natural reaction as she spat out a paranoid, "Are you okay!?" Though she knew full and well he was fine.
Bearheart was that one tom Satyrnose couldn't find herself looking away from. He was definitely handsome and of a good standard. He was smart and determined, cunning and bright. There wasn't much she didn't like about the tom, but alas she was a medicine cat and that held her from ever having anything with the cute cat. Sometimes though she would consider stepping down for him, till it hit her that she was incapable of doing anything but healing her clan.
Shaking her head to recover from her stupid question she smiled at him, pretty silver fur laying flat on her body again. "Hello Bearheart, everything is alright I trust?" She purred the question, enjoying the company of her deputy. Not only was being a medicine cat lonely but it was stressful. Having company here and there was nice, especially in the form of a cat who understood the stress she goes through. Bearheart had his own worries just at Satyrnose did. The life of her clan sitting on her shoulders. If she were to mess up she would mess up a life, or more depending on what happened.

"Are you alright?!" You would think by now the tom would be used to his friend's psychotic outbursts, but her shriek sent the happy-go-lucky figure into a caterwaul of terror. His fluffy fur rose to make him appear larger than he already was, and his olive eyes widened in panic. Stopping dead in his tracks with his jaws slightly parted, Bearheat let a slight, "Uh..." escape his throat. As was his normal reaction to Satyrnose spazzing before him. He observed with a careful gaze as the beautiful molly began to relax, and he realized he had caught her off guard. Closing his mouth and blinking twice, Bearheart felt his heart rate reduce to normal, and even let a faint smile play upon his lips. "Hello Bearheart, everything's alright I trust?"
Bear thought, in that flash of a second, of all the things that were quite not alright. His torn ear flickered slightly, the only hint of disposition and worry. "Everything's beautiful and dandy, Satyrnose, just like you." He let an almost sarcastic purr roll into his voice as he spoke, knowing fine and well that the medicine cat claimed to hate his awkward advances. She had given up her love life for one of healing and faith; to which Bearheart would respond with a slight chuckle, and some so-so comment about how he had not chosen such a way of living, and it was not right to punish him as well. StarClan would understand, surely. Still, Bearheart respected his friend greatly, and would never intentionally pressure her into loving him. He would not tell her that she had completely stolen his heart from the beginning of his warrior career, even though they had met as apprentices, and this little flirting game he played only hinted at his feelings. Honestly, it pained him that you could mistake his love for a mere joke, but that was the way it was supposed to work.

Satyrnose shut her eyes tight seeing his reaction to her sudden fear. She had been meaning to change that, fix her habit of thinking things were wrong whenever a cat yelled her name. Finally she opened her eyes to look at him again, the normal response coming from his mouth, causing an awkward laugh from the silver molly. "Sorry about that." She whispered, just as she always did when she scared him like that. Her voice was always soft and sweet, much like a mothers to her lover, or her favorite daughter.
"Everything's beautiful and dandy, Satyrnose, just like you." You would think by now Satyrnose was used to her closest friends advances on her but it often caused her body to grow tense. While she loved the comments she could never ever tell him that, it would make things worse than they already were. He couldn't know that she absolutely adored him with every part of her. "That's brilliant Bearheart, I hope it stays that way." She purred, trying to avoid his little comment to her. "I see being deputy is still treating you well, who knew we would both be in such... Places as we are." She knew him from when they were little and while she wanted so badly to go after him she simply couldn't go through the test. She knew she wouldn't make it through and thus, she went the easy way out. Bearheart.. he was far braver than she would ever be, that much she knew and there wasn't much she could do about it.

"That's brilliant, Bearheart, I hope it stays that way." The massive tom shook out his pelt, sending a cascade of light dust swirling through the air in the sunlight. Rolling his shoulders back, he grinned, and sat down on the hard camp ground. He hoped to be here for a while, simply looking over and talking to Satyrnose. "I see being deputy is still treating you well; who knew we would both be in such... Places as we are." Bearheart cast his gaze to the dirt, the stress of his life returning with the mention of his job. He gave a light smirk to his pretty friend, responding in a polite manner. "I suppose I'm as well as I'll ever be. I'm working on trying to get Cunnerstar to think about somethings that might help improve the camp... I don't think we see eye to eye on too many levels now adays, but he isn't displeased, if I'm not mistaken, so that's all fine and dandy." A light breeze swept Bear's thick pelt to one side, and he looked towards the entrance of camp as though in deep thought.
When he returned to reality, Bearheart found his green irises locked with Satyrnose's yellow ones. "And I know what you mean; it's insane to think we weren't put into high positions sooner!" Of course, her meaning was so much deeper than what he suggested it to be; whether it was about love, or where they were in life by any matter of standard, he really did think he knew what the molly had meant. Had he not even dreamed of pursuing the life of a leader only twenty moons prior? And Satyrnose... It would have been difficult to imagine the two in the situation they were in now, whilst they were in their youth. He gave a light chuckle, implying his weak sarcasm, and a small glimmer of emotion broke through his eyes. What that emotion was, whether it be love, or hope, or defiance, it was impossible to tell.

Satyrnose let out a soft, nervous purr. Her paw playing absentmindedly in the dust. She wasn't always one to be so social with others, often having been the shy skittish cat of the clan. Though when it came to Bearheart she was always open and sweet. Loving towards the handsome tabby tom with those stunning eyes. It was always hard for her to try and ignore her feelings for him and as the days went on it got more and more stressful, but why tell him when it could never be? That was the main issue in Satyrnose's life.
For so long her body had been tense, taking deep breathes to relieve her earlier scare hoping not to go into an anxiety attack. Her body slowing down in its shaking she gave him another tiny smile, looking back at her den. Really the pretty silver and brown molly wanted to lay down but she wasn't going to leave Bearheart to do so. Plus she couldn't just take a nap.. What if someone needed her, what if the leader had to talk to her, or an apprentice tripped and fell, needing her to assist in healing a twisted paw. Dear starclan was she exhausted.
"I suppose thats true." She muttered with a purr, shutting her eyes for a second. "Although I think you were more expected to be deputy than me being higher up in any form.."

Bearheart glanced over his friend with a hidden concern. Lately she seemed lost, and tired, and though she had never been exuberantly chatty or social, she seemed more timid as the days progressed. The tom didn't know if it was her job, and all the dress it brought, or something that he had caused. He desperately hoped it wasn't the latter. "Although I think we're expected to a deputy more than me being higher up in any form." Bearheart snorted, shaking his head in disagreement. "Oh please, Satyrnose. You're smart, and loyal, and hard working... But most importantly, you care. You've got the biggest heart of anyone I've ever met- your looks are just a plus."Any hint of sarcasm had fled the warrior's voice, and he was deathly serious. His muscles were rigid, his paws unmoving. His olive eyes were hardened, transfixed on the beautiful molly. If you hadn't heard his words; and in some cases even if you had; you probably would have assumed that he was angry, and trying not to lose his cool. However, if you knew him- really knew him- you could tell that this sudden shift in emotion was not, in fact, anger, but a frustrated kind of love. He hated when Satyrnose doubted herself. She always cowered and whimpered away from everybody, like she thought she wasn't good enough to grace their presence. This struck a chord with Bearheart; he always searched desperately for a way to show her how he felt, and to try and get her to see herself through his eyes (for she would never feel self conscious again). He rolled his shoulders back, trying to relax a bit as to not come off aggressive. Closing his eyes, he let the sunlight seep into his pelt as he waited for her response. Sorry it's short, I'm on my phone.

Satyrnose let out a soft, content purr. She was always looking at her friend and wondering what it was that made him so set on her, why did he want the cat he could never really have and why did she want him so bad? It hurt sometimes but other times it was nice knowing there was a tom that would want to love her and lay with her. "Thats very sweet of you Bearheart but you know full and well my looks mean nothing to anyone. I'm the molly who can't have someone by her side, I'll never have kits and I'll never lay in the same nest with the cat I love. Its what I've been put into and its how I suppose it'll stay."
Her tone was obviously pained as she spoke, she wanted so badly to rewind time and maybe be with Bearheart, but possibly it is the whole 'you can't have her' factor that makes him close to her.. Maybe if she had never been a medicine cat he'd have a mate, kits on the way, a family... Satyrnose.. Well she never will. This is where the line of curly eared cats ends.. with this soft timid little medicine cat.
