Before Conception - To say that Turtlenose is a "pure BeachClan" cat is kind of a.. Silly thing. But she is. Of course, that isn't saying that her like great great grandma wasn't a kittypet.. But in recent memory both of her parents come from "pure" families.. As pure as BeachClan can get, anyway. Not that they really cared. Jasmineheart, well, she's a bit of a free spirit. She's very spacey, and sometimes just says weird random things that kind of sound deep, but probably aren't really. Pullocktail is just about as strange as his mate. He has this obsession with twoleg music. Of course, Jasmineheart would accompany him on these outings.. That is actually how Turtlekit and Basilisk-kit were made.

Kithood -Jasmineheart was a very easy-going queen, and she gave the medicine cat little to no issue. Pullocktail was a very involved father, and always went to her checkups with her. A deep haze of night was over the Clan when Jasmineheart's yowls filled the camp. The birth went rather easily, though, and by morning the Clan was blessed with two new kits: Turtlekit and Basilisk-kit.

Turtlekit and Basilisk-kit were as different as night and day. Turtlekit inherited her mother's free spirit, and her father's sharp intelligence. Basilisk-kit.. Well, he wasn't like either of them. No, he was always rather cold and distant. He turned his nose up on any and all twoleg activities, and said that he wanted to be a "true warrior." Even as a kit was disgusted with the Clan's proximity to twolegs. No cat could really understand his animosity, except for Turtlekit of course.

One day when they went to the elder's den, a certain elder filled Basilisk-kit's head full of these ideas. Basilisk-kit ate them up, and visited the elder often. Turtlekit had never been particularly fond of her brother, and after he started spouting off with his xenophobic ideals, they pretty much had a falling out. By the time that they were apprenticed, the siblings had nothing to do with each other.

Apprenticeship - Becoming Turtlepaw was a bit of an accomplishment in the family's eyes. Pullocktail and Jasmineheart were always very involved, very loving parents. Jasmineheart made sure to groom Turtlekit and Basilisk-kit until their fur was shining before sending them in front of the Clan for their ceremony. Neither of the kits had ever been shy or scared, so they marched proudly before the Clan to receive their mentors and names.

Turtlepaw was paired with Chickadeewhisker, a very feminine tom who was known to be mated with another tom in the Clan. Basiliskpaw was paired with a she-cat by the name of Honeyflower. That night, Basiliskpaw made sure to tease Turtlepaw about her mentor. He said things like "not natural" and "needs to find a good she-cat." These statements made Turtlepaw's blood boil, but she remained silent. She didn't want to put off her training because of a fight with her brother.

Turtlepaw and her mentor became extremely close throughout her training. She considered him one of her best friends, and when she discovered that she was attracted to both mollies and toms, he was there to help her understand. Turtlepaw wasn't upset by the discovery. Of course she would never have her brother's approval, but her parents didn't care as long as she was happy.

Turtlepaw reached her twelfth moon without much incident, training hard with her mentor. They had discovered her niche in tracking, and Chickadeewhisker was sure to brag on her to any cat that would listen. It only took one night for her life to change completely. Chickadeewhisker was out with his mate, they were attacked by a coyote. Chickadeewhisker didn't survive, and his mate was in very bad shape.

Turtlepaw had never felt the pain of loss before, but she was lucky to have supportive parents who stood beside her. Unfortunately, you guessed it, Basiliskpaw was anything but comforting. To this day she can still remember it, word for word, the tone of his voice.. so disgusted and haughty. "This is StarClan's way of showing us he was wrong." Of course, she lost it. That night, she sent her own brother to the medicine cat's den.

Warrior - Life went on. She learned to cope with the loss of her mentor and best friend. She was given her warrior name a couple of weeks after he passed away, Turtlenose. Somehow, she felt like she could feel him watching her proudly from StarClan. A couple of days ago, Chickadeewhisker's fully healed mate approached her and thanked her for being the daughter that they never could have had. He left the Clan shortly after, unable to deal with the memories that surrounded it.
